Activities

  • 8:00 AM – Meet Your Guide: Meet your guide in the morning at the starting point of the hike. Receive a brief orientation about the trail, safety instructions, and an overview of the days itinerary.
  • 8:30 AM – Begin the Hike: Start your ascent of Mt. Kabuye, following the designated trail. Your guide will lead the way, ensuring everyone stays together and maintains a comfortable pace. As you hike, take in the surrounding natural beauty, enjoying the flora and fauna that line the trail.
  • 10:00 AM – Refreshment Break: Take a short break at a scenic spot along the trail to rest and enjoy some light refreshments. Admire the views of the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, which begin to come into sight as you gain elevation.
  • 12:00 PM – Lunch Break: Find a suitable spot for a picnic lunch, enjoying a packed meal amid the picturesque surroundings. Take time to relax, refuel, and soak in the tranquil ambiance of the mountain.
  • 1:00 PM – Summit and Twin Lakes Viewpoint: Resume your hike towards the summit of Mt. Kabuye. As you reach the peak, be prepared to witness breathtaking views of the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo below. Spend time taking photos and appreciating the stunning panorama before you.
  • 2:00 PM – Descent and Village Visit: Begin your descent from the summit, following the same trail back down. On the way, your guide will take you to a nearby local village, where you can immerse yourself in the local community. Interact with villagers, learn about their daily lives, and experience the warmth and hospitality of Rwandan culture.
  • 4:00 PM – Return to Starting Point: Complete your hike as you arrive back at the starting point. Take a moment to reflect on your adventure and bid farewell to your guide and fellow hikers.
